First stop: Shanghai, China’s financial center, known for its cosmopolitan flair and around-the-clock activity. Shanghai- the city where old and new China are only a street apart.

  • Meet top executives from a variety of multinational companies
  • Shop Nanjing Road – home to hundreds of shops along its broad walking mall
  • Walk the Bund, with its massive European-style buildings
  • Tour Pudong’s sleek skyscrapers – including the tallest building in the world
  • Learn how to do business in China

Next stop: Suzhou, the walled-city of canals that Marco Polo called “Venice of the East”.

* Cost information: This trip is subsidized by a federal grant. This grant covers over half of the cost of the trip. Due to federal regulations, only US citizens or those holding permanent US status visas can qualify for the subsidized price of $2,500. Return to text.

Global Business Immersion

Requirements

  • Participants must be either Ohlone College students or students at another 2- or 4-year California college or university
  • Students must enroll in the Global Business Immersion Course for Summer 2011
  • Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Students must have, or be able to get, a current, valid, individual passport
  • Students must be 18 years old at the time of departure
  • Students must be in good health, and not have any serious disabilities which would impede their ability to keep up with the physical demands of group travel

Preference will be given to

  • Students with a 2.5 or higher GPA
  • Students with one or more Ohlone College Business courses, particularly international business courses
  • Students with prior international travel experience
  • Students with prior group or leadership experience
