Sustainability at Ohlone
Our Ohlone Indian heritage continues thru our commitment towards environmental stewardship and sustainability. The lessons learned from our Ohlone ancestors continue today in our classrooms and the Ohlone College community.
The Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology is the first LEED Platinum College in the world.
Did you know that…
- In the last year faculty and the Ohlone College Foundation have raised funds to establish Ohlone College’s first Environmental Studies Department housed in our new Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology facility.
- Numerous faculty members have included environmental themes in their curriculum.
Principles of Sustainable development
From the United Nations Conference on Environmental Development:

- Principle 10 - Subject activities to environmental reviews
- Principle 11 - International community must respond to localized disasters
