Make Ohlone Beautiful (MOB) - Earth Week 2013
Thank you all very much for your great participation this morning by joining the MOB in honor of Earth Week 2013!
We had a nice mix of students (thank you faculty for making this a project!), faculty, staff, and managers. We had 55 participants, hauling more than 60 bags of trash collected throughout the campus (lots of cigarette butts)! This is the best turnout we have had since I have been the MOB boss. I do realize that I follow in the great footsteps of "Godfather" Jim Wright. He has been doing organized mobs way before my time. I take this responsibility seriously and pledge to carry-on long after he is gone into retirement!
BTW: He was out there picking up trash even after 20 hours of international travel returning from a trip to China!
Thank you to the staff in facilities who coordinated the supplies and helped haul trash! Great team effort!
Thank you! Thank you!
If your students participated as part of a class project, please let us know. We have sign-in sheets that we can share.

- 8:30am - 12:00pm
- Meet in the Quad on the Fremont campus
We need volunteers! You don't have to commit to all 3 hours – any amount of time you can spend will be appreciated.
8:30am - 9:00am - Volunteers arrive and get work assignments. Meet in the Quad area between Buildings 1 and 5. Coffee and water will be provided.
9:00am - 12:00pm - Work in the area you select [see Fremont Campus Map with Areas Marked (PDF)]. We will be concentrating on areas 7-12.
Ohlone will provide trash bags, trash "picker uppers", disposable gloves. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring your own work gloves.
In case you are wondering what a trash "picker upper" is, here's a photo! These must be returned at the end of the event.
There will be a roving pickup truck picking up filled bags. Leave all filled bags at the edge of your work area for easy pick up.
If you have questions, please email Shairon Zingsheim, Associate Vice President, Human Resources and Training, at email@example.com.
