Transfer Statistics - Transfer Center
Where do Ohlone students transfer?
The research analysts from the California Community College Chancellor’s Office recognize Ohlone has consistently exceeded expected transfer rates published by their office. These rates are based on such factors as distance from public universities, socioeconomic factors, percent of student body taking basic skills coursework, etc. Statistics have to be considered cautiously when viewed, however.
In order to be as prepared as possible, students are encouraged to:
- Identify their options early by researching campuses and requirements (admission, major, and selection)
- Meet with a counselor regularly to ensure proper planning and preparation
- Seek out support programs that are available
- Consider their own level of motivation toward their goal.
Other factors which may add to the amount of time spent at a community college before a student actually transfers could be the need for remediation in one or more subjects (number of courses to be completed before satisfying the college level), and/or they have selected to pursue a major which requires a large amount of preparation for a school that is highly selective due to its competitiveness.
While community college transfer students are important to universities, each system places a different level of priority on the percentage of spaces reserved for transfers.

It should also be noted that some students select to transfer to an out-of-state or in-state private institution, for which the listed links do not track.
