Admission Application Sessions

Need help with your admissions application? Not sure where to start? Do you have an admission essay or personal statement you would like someone to read? (Offered Fall)

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Supplemental Application Sessions

Cal Poly logo.Cal Poly San Luis Obispo require supplemental applications as part of the admissions process. Attend this workshop for one-on-one assistance with this portion of the application and present your best application for admissions. It helps if you have already begun working on your Cal Poly SLO CSUMentor application.

The Common Application

Topics covered: What is it? What schools use it? Tips for addressing questions within it? Individual institution deadlines, supplemental applications, forms required, procedures for those forms, where to go for assistance, etc.

The CSU Application

Topics covered: When and where to apply? Tips before your begin. What to expect after application submission. Documents, deadlines, where to go for application assistance.

Getting Ready to Transfer: The Final Year

Anyone transferring to a university in Fall 2011 should attend this one-time workshop! Find out what you need to do for the remainder of your time at Ohlone to have a smooth transition to your university. (Offered Fall)

UC TAG Application Sessions

University of California logo.Obtain assistance with your Fall 2012 UC TAG application. You must know which UC TAG campus you qualify for and would like to TAG to prior to this workshop. Review UC TAG options and requirements.

Last Minute Fall 2013 UC TAG Application Session

The Transfer Center is holding a Last Minute UC TAG Application workshop so you can finish your UC TAG application and get it submitted. Students should not wait until this workshop to begin your UC TAG application. The workshop is a place for you to obtain clarification on your application, have it reviewed for completeness (not eligibility), and finish it up for submission. So, stop by anytime during the session, and bring your laptop or borrow one of ours. The Fall 2013 UC TAG application is due September 30, 2012. Unsure about your major? Ever wonder how your major relates to future careers? Attend this hands-on workshop to research majors, colleges and universities that offer your major(s), as well as occupational and salary information associated with the major(s). (Offered Fall and Spring)

Transfer Options in Engineering

Join Counselor Wayne Takakuwa and the Ohlone College Engineering Club for a session on transfer planning and university options in the engineering field. Obtain tips for researching and applying to Bay Area universities! (Offered Fall)

Transfer Options in Nursing

Attend this workshop to learn more about careers and options in nursing, including the differences between an Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's Degree in nursing, and obtain clarification about Bay Area nursing programs. (Offered Fall and Spring)

Money Matters

FAFSA Workshops

You may have submitted university admission application(s), but, have you submitted the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)? Any student who believes that he or she may need assistance in meeting the cost of attending college should apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA. Submit the FAFSA by March 2 to have access to the most amount of funds available. Please visit Financial Aid FAFSA Workshops to prepare and bring relevant documents before attending a FAFSA session. These sessions are offered by the Ohlone College Financial Aid Department. (Offered Fall and Spring)

Financial Aid & Transfer Students

All non-F1 transfer students (especially students in their last year at Ohlone before transferring) are highly encouraged to attend this special workshop. We know most students need help paying for college, so, before you say, “My family makes too much to qualify for financial aid,” or “I did not receive aid at Ohlone so I guess I will not receive aid after transferring,” consider attending (bring your family!) this special presentation by Dianna Wheaton, a financial aid counselor at CSU East Bay, where we will address the following:

  • What is financial aid?
  • What is the FAFSA? Why fill it out?
  • The financial aid award. Will I know what is offered before I decide on the university to attend?
  • Special notes for transfer students
  • Preparing to complete the FAFSA

Planning Financially for University Transfer

Wondering how you're going to pay for college after you transfer? It's never too early to plan financially! Join Victor Cheng, CFP, & Eagleview Foundation for a special series on resources and strategies in funding your college education as well as correctly utilizing financial aid, grants and endowment funding! (Offered Fall and Spring)

Note: This is a four-part series workshop. Participants are highly encouraged to attend the first session before session two, attend session two before session three, and three before four.

The Transfer Admission Guarantee

Attend this workshop to learn about the different guaranteed transfer admission opportunities. Specifically, we will go over the Associate Degree for Transfer to the CSU system, CSU Monterey Bay Transfer Admission Agreement, and UC Transfer Admission Guarantee.
