Off-site Hosting Options for Media Files

Accessibility requirement: Video and audio files should be captioned or accompanied by a text transcript or, if no words are spoken, a comprehensive description.

  • Steaming Video: The Broadcasting: Film, Television, and Internet Department works with an off-site streaming media hosting service (PowerStream.net) to host videos that can be streamed. Contact Arnie Loleng at aloleng@ohlone.edu for more information.
  • Media Files larger than 50 MB:
    • Up to 1 GB, see Ohlone's YouTube EDU Account
    • The Film, Television, and Internet Department's off-site media hosting service (PowerStream.net) can host large video/audio files. Contact Arnie Loleng at aloleng@ohlone.edu for more information.
  • Ohlone's YouTube EDU Account: The Ohlone College Web Team manages a YouTube EDU channel for Ohlone College video and audio files (maximum 1 GB in file size with no length limit). Video and audio files provided to the Web Team for posting on YouTube should be captioned or accompanied by a text transcript or, if no words are spoken, a comprehensive description. Review captioning information in the Help section on the YouTube website.
  • Video/audio files hosted elsewhere: Links provided to the Web Team for video and audio files hosted on any non-ohlone.edu web server. If the files are not captioned, a text transcript or, if no words are spoken, a comprehensive description.
