Web Task Force (WTF)
2/12/2002 Meeting Notes
(These are not comprehensive notes.)
Some primary concerns
- promotion of college to community
- outdated information
- presentation of the college
- consistent look and feel throughout
Tasks/Goals of WTF
- if Cheryl updates sites, how does she get the info?
- what to do with Divisions/Departments that don't keep site updated?
- possibly schedule (yearly calendar) to ping people re updates (but, puts onus on Cheryl, not on the owners of the sites)
- possibly include standard information related to Departments in their Division site instead of separate site (faculty, courses)
- possibly create a default Department site for depts that don't want to maintain their own site and hook into campus database to popuplate the information (faculty, courses)
Ohlone Site Statistics
Math Department and others have pages on the "online" server in addition to the "www" server -- at the request of Pat Lane a while ago.
Questions
- Bob wants to know the Dean's responses to:
- Web Team approving pages?
- Web Team maintaining pages?
Suggestions
- Cheryl should do her Web Technologies presentation to:
- the Deans, starting with the 2/27 Instructional Deans meeting (Jim Wright's group)
- the Cabinet
- Obtain and review the student survey the IS Department did for possible information about types of computers and browsers they use (April should have this)
- Cheryl/Tj look further into development server and CMS
- Cheryl ask Tj re "who in IS knows in detail WebAdvisor?"
Homework for WTF Members
- review the web guidelines document of the colleges listed in the 2/12/2002 agenda looking at the language used and the content of the guidelines documents
