(updated after meeting to reflect additional topics of discussion)
Topics of Discussion
- Welcome new WTF members:
- Mindy Hersh, Dean, Counseling
- Debbie Tucker, Director, EOPS
- Website Statistics Fun
- Standard Web Design Software: Dreamweaver MX
- Review possible "Quick Links" navigation option on home page, either in side navigation under Resources links or in the top header area which moves the search box the side navigation under the Resources links. There are "catches" with each approach.
- Web Style Guide - http://www.ohlone.cc.ca.us/org/webstyleguide/
- Implementation Timeline (available in the Web Style Guide) - TACO approved the timeline on 9/29/2002; Discuss comments, concerns, suggestions from WTF Members
- Web Team will develop workshop re web accessibility requirements
- Standard Header Images - Review example standard header images which can be used at the top of web pages instead of using the official logo in the top left corner of each web page. The Web Team will create several standard header images to choose from and will provide code for each of those header images. The images will be an "image map" with links to home page, A-Z Index, Search, and other items to be selected by the WTF.
- Standard Footer contents
- Should a link to the Academic Honesty Policy be required to appear in the standard footer for all web pages, including Division/Department/Committee/Other Campus Group/Faculty/Staff websites? If not, where is it required, where is it optional, and where should it not appear at all? The Web Team has added a link to the Academic Honesty Policy to the standard footer for all sites managed by the Web Team - should it be removed? should it match the requirements set in the previous item?
- Copyright Statement May Be Inappropriate on Some Sites
- Discussion re Linking to Faculty/Staff Websites not on Ohlone Domain
- Discussion re content-type restrictions for Faculty and Staff websites. The trigger for this issue is whether a faculty member can use his/her website on the Ohlone College domain as a business website and whether he/she can link to his/her business website hosted off-site (i.e., not hosted on any of the Ohlone College web servers).
- Comments about our website, including a recent complaint from local businessman
