I've received several questions about changing email addresses to email@example.com. Here is some additional information you may find helpful.

Q. I belong to several email lists (also called listservs).
Since the IS Department changed my email address to firstname.lastname@example.org in the Netscape email program, I can't send a message to some of the email lists anymore (it gets bounced back). Why? How do I fix it?
Many listservs allow only registered members to send messages to the list. When you registered for the lists, you indicated your email address was email@example.com. Since your email address has changed to firstname.lastname@example.org, you will need to change your registration information for each listserv.
Each listserv has different ways to modify registration information. Some listservs require you to modify your registration information on their website. Some will require that you unsubscribe the old email address and sign-up (subscribe) using the new email address. If you have problems or questions about this process, you will need to contact the person who manages that particular listserv.

Q. I belong to an email listserv and receive a few messages from them each week. I don't ever send messages to the list, however. Do I need to do anything now that my email address in the Netscape email program has been changed to email@example.com?
Q. I receive several email newsletters using my firstname.lastname@example.org email address. Do I need to do anything now that my email address in the Netscape email program has been changed to email@example.com?
For at least one year, you will be able to receive email sent to either email address and it will all end up in your one email Inbox in the Netscape email program. So, there is no need at this time to do anything. However, you may want to change your registration information within the next few months so you won't have to do it later.
