What We Do…Our Services - Web Team

The Ohlone College Web Team provides a number of services to the College and its faculty and staff with regard to the College's website. If you have any questions about what we do, please contact us.

  • Manage content and features on the College website homepage (registration information, highlights, rotating events list)
  • Manage content and features on "core" pages of the website, including the A-Z Index, Resources portals (Students, Faculty & Staff, Visitors & Alumni, Business & Industry), Maps, Directions, Transportation & Parking, New at Ohlone, and more
  • Manage standard design templates for the Ohlone College website
  • Manage Division, Department, Committee, Other Group, and Faculty websites using the standard design templates (review the Web Team Client List)
  • Respond to "webmaster@ohlone.edu" email messages or forward to the appropriate email address for handling
  • Publish announcements for campus news, events, and programs
  • Review and publish files for websites maintained by faculty/staff from the development web server (dev2) to the main web server (www2)
  • Review websites to ensure compliance with the Web Style Guide, including web accessibility and usability
  • Manage email aliases used by the formmail script for HTML forms
  • Manage/Administer the web-based Events Calendar, including adding/updating/removing events
  • Administer software and accounts for other web-based calendars, such as Transfer Events Calendar, Professional Development Calendar, and more
  • Post in a timely fashion job postings for Human Resources; manage updates to and remove job postings as requested
  • Post in a timely fashion press releases by College Advancement, District news releases by the Public Information Officer or President's Office, and other Departments as requested
  • Review Google Alerts and local newspaper websites for Ohlone-related news, and post articles about Ohlone College and Ohlone College Renegades Athletics
  • Post the Ohlone College Monitor PDF files
  • Post in a timely fashion meeting agendas and minutes for the Board of Trustees, College Council, and other College committees as requested
  • Publish in a timely fashion Electronic Board Packets for Board of Trustees meetings, and Electronic Document Packets for College Council, Ohlone College Foundation, and other College committee meetings as requested
  • Every semester, update a variety of College websites with much of the information provided in that semester's printed Class Schedule
  • Post the Catalog each year
  • Every year, update a variety of websites with much of the information provided in that year's Catalog, including sample lists of courses and student learning outcomes
  • Post the Curriculum Guides each year
  • Review and update as needed the Associate Degrees and Certificates page with information from the current year's Curriculum Guides
  • Review and update as needed department/program websites with information from the current year's Curriculum Guides
  • Assist with management of Ohlone College's main accounts on social networks
  • As information is provided/discovered, list participation by Departments, Programs, Student Clubs, etc. in a variety of social networks
  • Compile and distribute Ohlone in the News email messages
  • Attend meetings of and contribute to a variety of committees, task forces, and other groups/projects
  • Answer questions of faculty and staff with the responsibility of creating and maintaining Division, Department, Committee, or Other Group websites on the Ohlone College domain
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot user accounts for the development web server with the IT Department
  • Assist the IT Department with design and user interface-related issues of their web applications and projects
  • Manage the Web Style Guide which provides rules for basic content, branding and web accessibility
  • Manage the Web Center which provides educational resources related to web technologies
  • Work with the Web Task Force to set website policies and procedures
