Using the WebTeamShare Directory - Web Team
A shared directory on the Ohlone_1 network server is available to allow users to provide copies of electronic files (especially large ones!) to the WebTeam without burdening Ohlone's email server and without providing files on a USB drive (also known as a "jump disk" or "memory stick"), a CD-ROM, or a ZIP disk.
Copies of files should be provided, not originals. Files are removed from the WebTeamShare directory when the Web Team starts your update.
Note: The "Ohlone_1" server is also known as "Ohlone1" and "Ohlone-1".
Access the WebTeamShare Directory
For Windows Users Only
- Login to the Ohlone College network
- Open Windows Explorer (this is the file manager program, not the web browser which is called Internet Explorer) or My Computer or My Network Places
- In the "Address" field, type: \\ohlone1\webteamshare then press Enter - You must use the backslash "\" (usually located on the key above the Enter key). Do not use the forward slash "/" (usually located with the question mark (?) key). To remember the difference between these two characters:
- The backslash is standing on its feet leaning backward.
- The forward slash is standing on its feet leaning forward.
- The WebTeamShare directory displays. If you get an error or do not see a list of folders, return to Steps 2 and 3.
- Now, go to Copy Files for further instructions
Instructions may change without notice based on IT changes.
For Mac Users Only
- Double-click on "Macintosh HD" which is located on the desktop
- In the left frame, click on "Network"
- Click on the "Admin" folder
- Scroll down through the list of computers to "Ohlone_1" and click on it
- Click on the "Connect" button
- Type in your network username and your network password and click "OK"
- Select which share on Ohlone_1 you want to connect to (example: "WebTeamShare", "Departments", or "Staff") and click "OK"
- The name of the share you selected will now appear on your desktop. Double-click on it to open it.
(Many thanks to the Helpdesk for the Mac instructions!)

Copy Files to the WebTeamShare Directory
- Access the WebTeamShare directory for Windows or Mac
- Create a subdirectory in the WebTeamShare for your files (use a name that clearly represents the project)
- Copy your files into that subdirectory. NOTE: Files placed in the WebTeamShare are deleted on a regular basis so COPY your files, don't MOVE them.
- Email the Web Team at webteam@ohlone.edu indicating the name of the subdirectory where you placed your files
Get Files from the WebTeamShare Directory
- Access the WebTeamShare directory for Windows or Mac
- Select the name of the subdirectory containing the files you want to access
- MOVE or COPY all of those files to your own computer or your Ohlone_1 network directory. NOTE: Files placed in the WebTeamShare are deleted on a regular basis.
