Textbooks, Online Access Codes, Other Supplies and Resources
Most Ohlone College classes require the purchase of a textbook, and some classes require the purchase of online access codes (also known as keys) or other supplies most of which are available at the Ohlone College Bookstore. The exact textbook and other specific costs are now available for each section on WebAdvisor (select “Book and Section Information” after you select a course).
Biography
Mr. Piumarta began his teaching career at Ohlone College as a part-time accounting instructor in 1970. In 1977 he was hired as a full time instructor at Ohlone College. For eight years he served as Dean for the Business and Technology Division. He retired from full time teaching in May 2010 and now teaches one class as an adjunct instructor.
Prior to full time employment at Ohlone College, Mr. Piumarta held accounting and finance positions in several local high tech companies, including Varian, Ford Aerospace and a small scientific instrumentation company. He also operated his own public accounting firm in San Jose for 14 years while teaching at Ohlone College. He lives in San Jose with his wife Nena. He has three adult childen and six grandchildren. His wife is a retired school administrator and all of his children are teachers.
Mr. Piumarta encourages active participation from all students and requires them to complete weekly assignments. His focus is on preparing students for upper division business coursework and the real world of business.
