The Louie Meager Art Gallery is a learning laboratory providing students a unique opportunity to gain practical experience with a broad range of gallery and museum management activities including curatorial and design work, care and handling of artwork, publicity, and developing funding strategies to support the arts. The gallery is supported by the Arts and Social Science Division and the Ohlone College Foundation.
Register for classes using WebAdvisor. Review the searchable online Class Schedule for class dates and times. Course descriptions are available in the Catalog. All students are encouraged to meet with a counselor to review academic program requirements and discuss their long-range academic plan.
- ART-117A/B Museum and Gallery Operations
- Transferable to 4-year institiutions. Theory and hands-on experience in all aspects of exhibit preparation, assisting the guest artists, installation and take-down, publicity, graphics, docenting, etc. The gallery director is the instructor in the gallery which is the classroom.
Most Ohlone College classes require the purchase of a textbook, and some classes require the purchase of online access codes (also known as keys) or other supplies. Most of these purchases are available at the Ohlone College Bookstore.
Students may also be required to pay additional fees for access to online resources that are not available through the Ohlone College Bookstore. Please check with the instructor.
