Good afternoon Ohlone Community,

To allow you to prepare for the upcoming Spring 2022 semester, there are some updates on procedures and protocols related to COVID-19 and the Omicron that impacts our entire college community. Today, we announced that any in-person face-to-face instruction scheduled for the Spring 2022 semester will meet on Zoom for the first 3 weeks (Jan. 24 through Feb. 13, 2022).

We are making this temporary modification to the Spring 2022 semester due to the increase in COVID-19 exposures in the region as a result of the Omicron variant. In addition:

  • Courses already fully online will continue in that modality.
  • The Library, Tutoring and Learning Labs will provide online services during this time.
  • Counseling will provide both in-person and online services.

For many of you, we know that you're looking forward to returning to in-person classes, and we are too. It is expected that beginning Feb. 14, in-person face-to-face instruction will resume at both the Fremont and Newark campuses as originally scheduled for the spring semester. As a reminder, all individuals onsite at Ohlone College are required to be fully vaccinated and submit proof of vaccination. Continue to check our COVID-19 Safety Updates for the latest information.

Ohlone College is committed to continuing our safe and sustainable practices since the onset of the pandemic. While these changes to our practice sometimes appear endless, we encourage you to remember we are all in this together. During this time, we will continue to monitor, assess and pivot as necessary to provide a safe and healthy campus environment for our students and our employees.

Thank you,

Eric B. Bishop, Ed.D.
