Dear Ohlone Community,

As you may have read or heard in the news today, a federal judge in Texas ruled that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, more commonly known as DACA, was unlawful and in effect stopped the acceptance of any new applications. While this may not impact many of us directly, it continues to place fear and uncertainty in a portion of our college community, including students, staff, and their families.

Having said that, I want to emphasize the importance of reminding those who are impacted directly and indirectly that Ohlone College stands with all the members of our community and takes seriously the responsibility of providing a safe learning environment for all. As the past few years have been so tumultuous for this population, we had hoped that some calm was in the future. Whatever the outcome may be to this latest in the long line of attacks and challenges, we stand together and continue to provide access, safety, and security.

In solidarity,

Eric
