Richard was elected to the Ohlone Community College District Board of Trustees in November 2006 and represents the residents in Newark and Ardenwood. Richard has been working in higher education for the past 25 years as an educator and administrator. Currently, he is the Executive Director of Alumni Engagement at Cal State East Bay. Previously, he worked in student affairs at both private and public universities in the Bay Area where he worked directly with students, families, faculty, and staff to assist students in achieving academic success.
Richard resides with his son in Newark and has been involved in the Newark community for over 20 years. He is a former president and board member of the Newark Educational Foundation, past parade chair for Newark Days Celebration, Inc., and former board member, past president and past treasurer for Stage 1 Community Theatre. Currently, he is involved at his son’s school and the school district. Richard holds a Bachelor's degree from Cal State East Bay and a Master's in Higher Education Administration from the University of Mississippi.
