Fremont, CA-Everyone counts down the days until summer vacation. But once it's here everyone is looking for something to do. Instead of sitting around and playing video games all day, kids can design their own video games! Ohlone for Kids and Teens continues to offer its award-winning summer enrichment program with a variety of different classes and workshops. The fun, interactive environment will get kids and teens excited to attend, and provide them with the skills that will help them once school begins again.
The program caters to students in grades 4-11 across many subjects. Kids who like to build and create will enjoy the LEGO© Robotics class, language enthusiasts can learn Spanish or ASL, and curious technological minds will love the new Game App Design course. High school students can take PSAT and SAT Prep courses or explore biotechnology and creative writing. This is a great opportunity to meet students with similar interests and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.
"Course offerings are aligned to the requests of parents, students and teachers in the Tri-Cities area," says Kate Giuffra, director of the program. "Based on last year's requests, we are offering more computer programming and web design courses. We also added new and innovative courses including Environmental Engineering, Fun with Circuits, and Physics Fun."
An exciting new program, Middle School Career Exploration Week, helps young students develop interest in degree and career pathways and gain hands-on lecture and lab experience in that topic, choosing from respiratory therapy, computer programming, biotechnology, and engineering. The Career Exploration week is held August 10 through 13 at the Ohlone College Newark Center.
In addition, Ohlone for Kids classes are offered in three sessions at Mission San Jose High School in Fremont and Cesar Chavez Middle School in Union City. Online registration has begun. Classes run from June 22 through July 30.
