Fremont, CA-Learn from some of the Bay Area's top experts in health and wellness, as Ohlone College celebrates World Tai Chi and Qigong Day at the Ohlone College Newark Center on Saturday, April 18, 2015. Visitors will enjoy a day of demonstrations, performances, and hands-on seminars on Tai Chi, Qigong, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, beginning at 9:30am, with events scheduled throughout the day until 3:30pm. The event is free and open to the public.
"This year's focus is on integrating Tai Chi and Qigong into today's awareness and lifestyle," says Master May Chen, the festival organizer and world-class martial artist.
Last year over 300 people joined Ohlone College in discovering healing and wellness through Tai Chi and Qigong. Steve Cho, former Fremont City Council member, said of the event, "The presentations give a better understanding of traditional Chinese medicine and practices and their role in the overall wellness of the human body."
Festival organizer, Master May Chen, has been developing Ohlone College's Tai Chi and Qigong program since 2008. She was recognized as Tai Chi Master of the Year in 2010 by the World Qigong Congress. She has coached the Ohlone College Tai Chi and Qigong Competition Team to three consecutive gold medals at the Kung Fu Magazine Martial Arts Championships in San Jose. The Ohlone team is one of two performing teams that visitors will see at the event.
