Fremont, CA-Internationally recognized for his "keen musical intelligence and excellent facility," (Miami Herald) Tao Lin, a native of Shanghai, opens the 2015-2016 Season of the Arts at Ohlone College, presenting great piano works by Brahms, Chopin, and Liszt.
A graduate of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Tao Lin has performed in concert venues across the world. Critics describe his music as a "…creative interpretation carried out with bravura technique and a prismatic sense of keyboard color" (Coral Gables Gazette) while another said Tao Lin's music was an "adventure for the ears," (Arkansas Democrat-Gazette).
Born into a musical family, Tao Lin entered the spotlight at a very young age. At the age of four, he began piano lessons; at age eight, he was accepted into the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. As a teenager, he performed in the Chinese premiere of Bartok's Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion.
As a recitalist, Lin has performed at prestigious concert halls around the world including the Kennedy Center, Izumi Hall (Osaka, Japan), and the Edvard Grieg Museum in Norway. He has performed as a soloist with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony, and the Miami Chamber Orchestra, amongst others.
Mr. Lin recorded Schubert's complete music for piano and violin with Argentinian violinist Tomas Cotik on Centaur Records. The recordings brought recognition from the international press.
Tao Lin performs at the Smith Center at Ohlone College on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 8:00 p.m.
