Ohlone College's Night of Science & More opens a window into the world of science and its many interesting aspects, leading young minds to fulfilling education pathways and fast growing career opportunities. The entire community is invited to this showcase on Saturday, October 15, that will expose the fun, wonderful power of science with hands-on activities and demonstrations from Ohlone students and professors. This free event is for the whole family to experience together.
Enjoy amazing chemistry experiments, gain hands-on experience using digital microscopes, high-powered telescopes, or discover a "fishy" way to farm using aquaponics. Guinness World Record Holder, John Collins, aka "The Paper Airplane Guy," will demonstrate a variety of aerodynamic principles: from lift, drag, and angle, to the crazy cool secret of the World Record Plane.
Special guest speaker, Dr. Pascal Lee, Planetary Scientist at the Mars Institute, and NASA Ames Research Center will present, MISSION: MARS Steps Toward the First Human Mission to the Red Planet. He will examine the who, what, when, why and how of the first human mission to Mars.
"This event makes all of the wonder, excitement, and possibilities of science available for everyone to explore, experiment, and engage," said Renee Wong Gonzales, Student Activities Coordinator.
Enjoy magic shows and gaze at the stars while a live DJ plays your favorite hits. Families and friends will enjoy a spectacular evening filled with scientific demonstrations and hands-on activities for all ages.
