Fremont, CA—Books and documentaries have chronicled the horrors of the interment, brutal treatment and murder of Jews under Hitler's German rule. The stories and images are disturbing, and yet there are people who claim they are all fakes — made up to gain sympathy or some kind of
It is these deniers that have spurred Magda Brown to speak out. Magda Brown was there.
Ohlone College in Fremont is hosting two presentations on the Holocaust by Magda Brown. Thursday, February 8 at 1:00 PM and Friday, February 9 at 7:00 PM. Both presentations will be held in the Jackson Theatre inside the Smith Center on the Ohlone College Fremont campus, located at 43600 Mission Blvd. Each presentation will be ASL interpreted.
Martin Kludjian, President of the Associated Students of Ohlone College, who are hosting these presentations shared, “Magda Brown came here a few years ago and she changed my life forever. Her story of surviving the Holocaust had a profound effect that could be seen on the faces of all who attended. The Associated Students of Ohlone College and I are excited to have such a remarkable person return and retell her invaluable lesson to our classmates and community.”
Growing up in Hungary, Magda had a loving and happy, but uneventful childhood. All that ended when Germany occupied Hungary and her family was interred in several concentration camps. Magda managed to escape and was liberated by American forces. Today, at 90 years of age, she says, “My mission is to tell the audience if they ever meet a Holocaust denier that I am proof that it was very real.”
