Counseling for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students

Female and male students signing.Counseling Services serve all current and prospective Deaf and Hard of Hearing students of Ohlone College. Counselors are fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and have specialized degrees and certification required for working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Counselors assist Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in planning and executing a plan of study that appropriately reflects each student's interests and motivation. The following services are provided:

  • Assessment for English and Math class placement
  • Orientation for new students
  • Registration and academic advisement
  • Academic, vocational, and personal counseling
  • Educational workshops
  • Special international student advisement regarding F-1 Student VISA regulations
  • Guidance with graduation requirements, transfer options, baccalaureate degrees, tutoring, and career planning
