The Ohlone College Psychology Club presents Dr. Eugenie Scott, Physical Anthropologist and Executive Director, National Center for Science Education.

  • What are evolution and creationism, and why are they controversial to some people?
  • What is the evidence that animals evolve from earlier life forms?
  • What’s the harm in teaching creationism in public school science classes?
  • What are the legal and educational bases for teaching evolution?

Based on her extensive experience in researching and teaching evolutionary biology, physical anthropologist Dr. Eugenie Scott discusses attempts by Creationists to discourage the teaching of Evolution in public school science classrooms. In this talk, Dr. Scott presents the historical, legal, and ethical implications in the struggle to keep religious explanations of the origin of life out of the science curriculum.
