Century Plant (Agave americana)
- Succulent with wide gray-green leaves with prickly edges and a long spine at each tip. Flowers only once, shortly before dying, sending up yellow flowers on a tall stalk.
- Native to Mexico and the southwestern United States
- Drought-tolerant and culturally significant to the native peoples of Mexico; despite its name, the plant lives from ten to thirty years, not a hundred.
