The Ohlone College Psychology Club is proud to announce the Fall 2015 installment in the Psychology Club Speaker Series.
Led by the uncaring media—as always—the American public continues to adore every new guru who attracts their attention by offering them quack cures, magical answers to important questions, and wisdom from other dimensions. Screeching preachers and smiling chiropractors keep an older generation glued to TV screens in the wee hours awaiting their tearful pleas for "donations"—with zero results. It's time we began to get smart and reject these crooks.
Modern science—medical and otherwise—is not perfect, yet it saves millions of lives every week, worldwide, but we must develop insulation against dangerous nonsense. James Randi, professional magician and author of eleven books on quackery and tricks presented as genuine wonders, offers us the latest news of wonders offered as knowledge, and if enticed he may even astonish us with a minor miracle or two of his own creation…
