Join us at Ohlone College as we explore the world of agar art. At our workshop you will have the chance to use special microbes that produce an array of beautiful colors to create a living artwork in a petri dish. We provide the tools, and you provide the inspiration! What kind of microbial masterpiece will you create?
Ohlone College is offering this workshop in partnership with the American Society for Microbiology. By taking part in this event, you will be eligible to submit a photograph of your artwork to the 2019 ASM Agar Art Contest; see details at www.asm.org/agarart.
This year’s workshop will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 9-11a.m. at the Ohlone College Newark Center for Health Sciences and Technology. Admission is free and open to the public. Participants must be 14 years of age or older; participants under 18 should bring along a parent or guardian. Please wear closed-toe shoes in our labs (no sandals). Space is limited; all participants must complete an individual registration to attend. We'll be sending out further information to those who register in the week prior to the event.
Ohlone’s Biotechnology Department is hosting this workshop. We’re excited to have you visit our labs, in which students of all backgrounds are trained in the hands-on skills they need to obtain internships and jobs at local Bay Area biotechnology companies.
