Title: “All About Asylum: An Award-Winning Attorney and Human Rights Advocate Analyzes Migration and Border Enforcement in the COVID-19 Era”

People, Place, and Power: A Social Science Speaker Series is a project that explores emerging issues across the social sciences. The program of guest lectures provides a platform to engage the remarkable expertise and experiences of Bay Area academics, practitioners, activists, and community stakeholders in the space of Ohlone College. The series brings together diverse perspectives that consider a breadth of contemporary topics and for the 2020-2021 academic year, the overarching theme is "Senses of Security."

We warmly encourage and invite students, faculty, administrators, staff, and community members to attend these talks, which are free-of-charge to attend and open to all! The events are hour-long presentations, including time for questions and discussion, and all talks are ASL-interpreted. The talks are designed to target a wide audience and they offer accessible, provocative, and timely approaches to thinking about security, society and space, and perception, people, and place.
