Placement Sessions at Local High Schools for Fall 2018 Admission to Ohlone College - Freshman Days

Early Registration Process for Seniors.

Placement is the process Ohlone College uses to determine the appropriate English and Math level for a student to start in their first college semester.

For English and Math, students will be placed into the highest possible courses utilizing any of the following criteria:

  • High school GPA and completed coursework
  • Early Assessment Program (EAP) / Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), OR a combination of EAP/SBAC and Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) grades
  • Advanced Placement (AP) tests
  • Computerized assessments in English and Math (Accuplacer) at Ohlone or from other California Community Colleges
  • Completed course work at a regionally accredited college or university

Students who have completed the placement process at other community colleges or have AP tests should bring a copy of their results to their Freshman Days orientation.

Studying will lead to a better performance and more class options. By obtaining a higher placement, you may be able to skip one or more basic English and math classes and get a head start towards your academic goals. Study guides and sample questions are available on our website.

When attending a session, a valid photo ID and an Ohlone Student ID Number are required. No calculators, dictionaries, study guides, or cell phones are allowed during the session. Your results will be available immediately after you complete the assessment.

For further questions regarding placement, please contact the Placement Center at (510) 659-6126 or testingcenter@ohlone.edu.

Make sure to sign-up in your high school career centers to attend a placement session. If you missed the session at your school or your school is not listed below, please visit the Placement Center to sign up for a session or book an appointment online.
