Hands Free Operation of Cell Phones - Campus Police Services / Safety and Security

Effective July 1, 2008, using a handheld phone while operating a motor vehicle is prohibited.

The legislation called for a delayed implementation in order to allow the motoring public to prepare for and adjust to the new law. Enforcement of the "hands free operation" law will begin on July 1, 2008.

The Ohlone Community College District fully supports this new law. All students and employees are required to be in compliance with the law. This is especially true if you are operating a college district motor vehicle.

Students, visitors, and employees will be cited if a violation occurs on either campus.

Campus Police Services, Safety and Security will take active enforcement measures to ensure that the law is complied with when motor vehicles are operated on any college district roadways or parking lots.
