FEATURED 2020 FALL Late Start Classes
Below, is a small selection of the featured Fall 2020 Late Start Classes. Visit WebAdvisor for a real-time list and availability.
When you go to WebAdvisor to register, there are three ways that classes are being offered:
Online (WEB)—This is a fully online class entirely conducted on the web. Course delivery follows a traditional classroom model where the instructor/student interaction is now fully managed via a course management system (Canvas) in place of the classroom (in-person). Due dates are set and students are expected to log into their course multiple times a week.
Online via ConferZoom—The class will meet at a scheduled time and day in an online classroom via ConferZoom. Students will virtually be in class with their classmates and their live instructor where they will be able to ask questions and interact in real time as if they were in a face-to-face classroom. These real-time online sessions will be complemented with course content and activities delivered through Canvas. **NOTE In WebAdvisor, if you see a class is being held on the Fremont Campus or at Newark Center, please DISREGARD—this is a technical issue and cannot be changed at the moment. However, they will be conducted online on the same days and times as listed.
Hybrid class for fall—A class that has both online and Online via ConferZoom formats.

FAQs: Frequently Asked Questions About Late Start Classes
Q: How do I enroll in late start classes?
A: Students can apply for admission (CCApply) and register in a Late Start class through WebAdvisor up until the day before the class starts (not first class meeting) of the class section for which they are wanting to register. Beginning with the first day, the student has a late enrollment period of ONE day and the student will need to obtain an Add Code from the instructor, which can only be used to register through WebAdvisor on the first day of class.
Q: I tried to enroll in a late start class online, but it didn't work. What should I do?
A: Check your Registration Readiness Dashboard – NEW in WebAdvisor. Review the criteria impacting your ability to register. A. Update Student Profile; B. Need to reapply for Admission; C. Have not met prerequisites (Contact the Counseling Department at 510-659-6110). If you need assistance, please contact the Admissions and Records at 510-659-6100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q: I registered for an Ohlone class years ago. Do I need to re-apply? Don’t you have my information?
A: If you have not attended Ohlone for at least one semester you will need to re-apply. Follow the admissions/new students registration process. If you need assistance, please contact the Admissions and Records at 510-659-6100 or email email@example.com.
Q: What if I can’t remember my WebAdvisor Username or password.
A: On the homepage of WebAdvisor, please select “I Forgot My WebAdvisor Password” or “What is my WebAdvisor User Name.” If you cannot remember the answers to your security questions, please contact Ohlone’s IT Services Department at 510-659-7333 and they can assist you with password recovery.
Q: If I am a new student to Ohlone, do I need to take the orientation to be able to register?
A: The orientation requirement is waived if you are just enrolling in Late Start classes. If you plan to continue to take classes in Spring 2021 you will need to complete the orientation requirement prior to enrolling. The orientation is available online. If you have already earned a college degree (Associates or higher), are enrolling for personal enrichment, or enrolling to take a course legally mandated for employment. You should qualify for an exemption.
Q: What is the cost per unit and are payment plans available?
A: Classes are $46 a unit for residents and $236 a unit for non-residents. Payment plans are available.
Q: I dropped a class earlier in the semester. Can I re-register for the same class during the same semester?
A: Yes, if you dropped your course prior to the deadline to drop without a “W” you will not be charged again for the same course. If you dropped the course and it shows a “W”, you should be able to register in the course again during the same semester as long as you have not exceeded the number of times the course can be attempted.
Q: If I don’t like my class, what is the drop period deadline?
A: Late Start classes have their own add/drop dates. They are not bound by the regular term length drop/add period. Late Start add/drop dates appear on the individual class rosters. Check with the instructor or the division office. Find out more.
Q: What is the maximum number of units I can take?
A: A maximum enrollment for the Fall 2020 term is 17.5 units for full semester matriculated students.
Q: Can a late start class impact my financial aid?
A: You must be registered for late start classes by the 4th week of the start of the semester (Financial Aid census date). For example, Fall semester begins 8/31/20, so you must be registered for any late start classes before 9/28/20 for those course units to be eligible for Federal Financial Aid eligibility. Any late start classes you enroll in after the Financial Aid census date, will not count toward your federal funding.
Q: Will I be eligible for the California College Promise Grant (formerly BOG Fee Waiver)?
A: California College Promise Grant applies to enrollment fees only. As long as 1 unit is taken, a student who meets the criteria is eligible.
