Studio/Commercial Music - Music Department

In the 21st century, there are music jobs available that didn't exist 10 years ago - especially here in the Bay Area. Think of companies like Apple iTunes, Pandora, Facebook, Spotify, etc. Companies like these need musically literate editors, researchers, copy-writers, web designers, marketeers and dreamers. This could be you!

We at Ohlone define "commercial music" as non-classical, music-related activities for which you might actually get paid! That includes engineering (digital recording, editing and mixing), pop music composition and arranging, pop music performance and history. We have a Pro Tools-based, professional studio facility for tracking and editing. (Please, check out the video below.) And we have plenty of soloists, bands and ensembles that need a recording made for their album, resume, or social media pages. The more collaborative sessions you run, the better engineer you'll be.

We offer two Mac labs - one with 22 Pro Tools workstations and another adjacent to the studio with 8 workstations. There's plenty of practice space with good gear and good pianos (featuring Steinway, Kawai and Yamaha grands). Experience is the name of the game in commercial music. It's not only what you know - it's what you can produce on deadline that really counts. Let us show you how to find your career!
