The Ohlone College Music Department and Ohlone College Bands (through Ohlone's Community Education program) are proud of its performing bands and ensembles. Purchase tickets in advance through the Smith Center Box Office in order to avoid lines, or purchase them at the door the day of the concert.

Take Flight! - Mission Peak Brass Band (MPBB)
The Mission Peak Brass Band presents a tasty “flight” of music for your listening pleasure. Soar with us, (and E.T.) in Fanfare & Flying Theme from E.T. The Extra Terrestrial by John Williams. We will reach new heights with Eagle Squadron March by Kenneth J. Alford and Where Eagles Sing by Paul Lovatt-Cooper. Additional pieces include Into the Future by Max Stannard and The Graces of Love by Oliver Waespi, among others. Our members have been practicing hard and certainly won’t be just winging it!
American Composers & Folk Songs - Ohlone Wind Orchestra (OWO)
Come out for an evening of delightful music as the Ohlone Wind Orchestra celebrates 20th century American composers. Music will include Where Never Lark or Eagle Flew by James Curnow, Elegy by John Barnes Chance, Mt. Everest by Rossano Galante, Suite from the Legend of Alcobaca by James Sochinski, and the haunting Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre. Also included will be the folk song favorites Walking Tune by Percy Grainger and English Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughn Williams.
The Best of Ohlone Community Band - Ohlone Community Band (OCB)
The Ohlone Community Band presents a Free Concert to beat all concerts! All of our band members and director have voted - this concert will include our favorite pieces over the last 10 years. Included will be such pieces as Silverado by Bruce Broughton, First Suite in E-Flat by Gustav Holst, Valdres March by Johannes Hanssen, Yosemite Autumn by Mark Camphouse, March from “1941” by John Williams, and The Witch and The Saint by Steven Reineke. Also, don’t miss the raucous drum feature from Riverdance by Bill Whelan.
Josh Kight Composer Residency Showcase Concert!
Josh Kight is a composer-lyricist and musician working on and off Broadway and in regional theaters around the US. His musical Chairs premiered in New York in 2015 after a successful regional run, and as a fellow of the BMI Workshop, he collaborated with bookwriter Gary Jaffe to create The Girl in The Mirror, slated for world premiere in San Francisco in 2019. Other works include musicals Pity and A Worn Path, the children’s musical Above the Beanstalk, and song cycle The Cuckoo. Further credits include sold-out evenings of original songs at 54 Below and The Metropolitan Room, music directing at Weston Playhouse, NY Stage and Film/Powerhouse Theater, and for workshops including The Talented Mr Ripley, and recently Associate Music Director for the Playwrights Horizon lab of James Lapine, Michael Korie, and Tom Kitt’s Flying Over Sunset, led by Kevin Kline and Christine Ebersole. He frequently accompanies Tony and Olivier Award winning performers, and has worked with artists including Raul Esparza, Alice Ripley, Danielle Brooks, Lesli Margherita, and Lindsay Mendez.
