Biography: Nate Failing, 1st Assistant Coach

At the university level, Failing served as the women's assistant and goalkeeper coach at San Jose State University for two seasons in 2004-05 and held the same position at Saint Mary's College from 2002-03. Prior to joining the Division I ranks, he coached both the men and women's keepers at D-II San Francisco State in 2002 and helped guide the women's squad to an NCAA Tournament berth that year.
Failing also has extensive experience at the high school level, coaching Carondelet High School in Concord, Calif. to three consecutive North Coast Sectional appearances from 2001-04. He recently worked with the Ghana women's national team goalkeepers while the team was training in the U.S. prior to the African nations Cup.
A former member of the California Semi-Pro League's Greek Americans, Failing is certified with his United States Soccer Federation "A" License and also has a USSF National Goalkeeper License. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in international studies at Cal State East Bay and went on to receive a master's in sport psychology while at CSUEB. He is currently working on a 2nd masters and a teaching credential.
