What is Onboarding?
The Ohlone Onboarding program is designed to provide students with a seamless, interactive, and informative onboarding and orientation. The Onboarding Team will serve as a resource as you navigate the process and are available for general questions.
What does the Onboarding Process Include?
The Onboarding process begins with students submitting an application to Ohlone and concludes with students being registered for their first semester of classes. Throughout the process, students will complete online modules, attend orientation, and work with a counselor to select classes. The Onboarding Team will continue to serve as a resource for students throughout their time at Ohlone.
How Will the Onboarding Process Help Me?
The Onboarding and Orientation program is designed to familiarize Ohlone students with the resources and services necessary to successfully start your journey. Information that will be covered throughout the process include:
- Self-guided placement
- How to connect with a counselor
- Essential campus services and resources
- Information about certificate, degree, and transfer programs
- Information about Financial Aid

How Long Does the Onboarding Process Take?
The total time to complete the Onboarding process can vary. On average, a new student can complete the process in less than a week. The process may be extended depending on additional documents that may need to be submitted.
Am I Exempt From Orientation?
Only first time college students are required to complete the Orientation portion of the Onboarding process. You are exempt if you indicate on your application:
- Have completed college coursework, AFTER graduating high school
- Are enrolled in K-12 while taking Ohlone College classes
- Are only enrolling for summer session
- Not planning to earn a certificate, degree, or transfer from Ohlone College
You will need to submit an Orientation Exemption request if you meet any of the criteria.
