I am pleased to announce that after an application and screening process conducted by the Multicultural and International Education Task Force, we will sending a team of five faculty members to our Sister College in Taizhou, Zhejiang, China this coming June . The team will be meeting with their counterparts there to discuss teaching and learning strategies in the areas of English, ESL, Economics and Accounting. Team members selected include: Vern Piumarta, Chris Bolt, Cindy Katona, Connie Olsen and Vicki Curtis.
This trip will be jointly funded by Ohlone and Taizhou Community College. We are covering the air fares through a combination of Multicultural and International Education Task funds (60%) and Entrepreneurial Ventures funds (40%). Taizhou will cover ground transportation and accommodations.
We expect that follow up activities will include an ESL Conference at Ohlone in Summer 2006 attended by faculty from Taizhou and an International Trade conference for Taizhou business people conducted at Ohlone sometime during the 2005-2006 academic year.
I know that this team will represent Ohlone well and that you all will join me in wishing them the best success!
Dr. Jim Wright,
Vice President, Instruction
