MSC Mission Statement

msc

The Ohlone College Multicultural Student Center's mission is to promote student success, retention, persistence, and degree completion by fostering holistic identity development that embraces diversity and prepares students to become conscious global citizens. We will provide personal and professional development opportunities to build community, contribute to their academic experiences, and provide the opportunity to become change agents by fostering a culturally relevant transition into the workforce and beyond.

The Multicultural Student Center addresses social justice issues and fosters a sense of solidarity, resilience, and activism in order to provide students with an empowered voice in the Ohlone College community and beyond. We are a welcoming and comfortable space where students have their identities and experiences valued and validated through intentional programming and access to services and a support network of students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

Solidarity work and a call for social equity will be at the foundation of event programming for the center. The space and services will provide an inclusive environment where students are able to develop themselves as leaders who play a vital role for the campus culture and climate. The Ohlone College Multicultural Student Center serves numerous communities including but not limited to Black, Latinx, Filipinx, and first-generation students as well as the Muslim, Indigenous, Undocumented, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
