Below are classes in Acting and Directing at Ohlone throughout the year. All classes listed below will be offered fall 2020. Shelter in Place guidelines will determine whether they will be taught face-to-face or remotely, but all classes will be offered. Please scroll down for detailed information:

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

  • Introduction to Acting (TD-110) - This is a great class for anyone looking to explore theatre acting. No experience is necessary and it is UC/CSU transferable, satisfies GE Plans A & B, and is part of our new Theatre Arts Transfer A.A. degree.
  • Intermediate Acting (TD-111) - Take your acting to the next level and learn to create truthful and authentic characters. This class is the perfect next step after Introduction to Acting. Students deepen their understanding of acting and learn new techniques to help further their craft and abilities. Students work on a variety of scripts and practice exercises that will help them strengthen their imagination and emotional availability.
  • Advanced Acting (TD-113) - Perform one of the principal roles in a play with only 2 or 3 characters. Scenes from this play are worked on throughout the semester with a final performance of the full play. Focus will be on in-depth character development and arc.
  • Acting for the Camera (TD-114A/B) – This class teaches the skills necessary to act and speak in front of the camera. No experience is necessary and it also is UC/CSU transferable, satisfies GE Plans A & B, and is part of the Theatre Arts Transfer A.A. degree. This class is great for students interested in film/TV acting or who will one day need to develop an on-camera presence in their career.
  • Theatre Improvisation (TD-115A) - Students will play games and exercises similar to the TV show "Who's Line is it Anyway?" and learn the skills of ensemble improv - teamwork, characters, and scene work.
  • Student Repertory Theatre (TD-120) – Actors! Join Ohlone’s Theatre Company spring semester. This is a fun and exciting class where students act in world premieres of short plays and comedic skits for sold out audiences. All are welcome! Sign up and we'll welcome you as an actor and company member on the first day of class. This class is also UC/CSU transferable, satisfies GE Plans A & B, and is part of our new Theatre Arts Transfer A.A. degree.
