WHAT IS UMOJA?
The Umoja Scholars Program is a learning community at Ohlone College. We combine academic learning with counseling, social support, and opportunities for cultural exploration. This program is designed for students of African descent, to promote their success, yet ALL STUDENTS ARE WELCOME.
Our name comes from the Kiswahili word 'umoja" that means "unity." Our Umoja program is part of the statewide Umoja Community.
WHY JOIN UMOJA?

Update: Our college's physical campuses - including our Umoja village - are currently mostly closed as part of the regional response to the Covid-19 outbreak. Umoja activities have moved online. Umoja Students in need of services should contact Dr. Maggie and/or Sista Dawn by phone, text, GroupMe message, or Canvas email.

We have an Umoja Advisory Group (UAG) that meets twice a semester. The next meeting is TBD via Zoom. Please email umoja@ohlone for a Zoom link if you would like to join us.
